Title: Machinist/Fixture Specialist

SUMMARY: General daily responsibilities include Design and Build Production Fixtures to assist all Production Department requirements and support Altek’s Quality Standards. Will follow pre-existing Standard Work Instructions as well as help develop new ones per Altek format. Will often work with others to plan and achieve goals set by Customer needs and Management requirements.

Entry Level Requirements:
 3-years experience or equivalent in design and construction of production fixturing.
 Experience with manual and automated equipment & controls common to machining environment 
 Able to effectively work with various individuals and departments in a team environment
 Able to effectively interpret blueprints
 Proficiency in the use of inspection tools 
 High School Diploma or GED.
 Experience with CAD/CAM software is required.
 Quality conscious attitude and pride of ownership in designated responsibilities
 Must have a reasonably complete set of personal tools

Job Description:
Technical Skills and Responsibilities:
 Analyzes and gathers input from Engineering and Production related to their fixture and/or work-holding needs and manufacturing process intentions. 
 Design fixture(s) with the optimal fabrication process, material, labor and machine cost in mind. Whether it be for machining, CNC machining, CAD/CAM, 3D printing, welding, or other, etc..
 Build fixtures and/or work-holding devices and then tests effectiveness in collaboration with Production and Engineering.
 Modify fixtures and/or work-holding devises until Production and Engineering requirements are met as well as repeatability and ease-of-use requirements. 
 Assists production when needed to setup fixture and/or work-holding devises to support ongoing manufacturing needs.  
 Assists Production, Engineering and Quality (as needed) to support the effective development of robust Standard Work Instructions optimally utilizing the fixture and/or work-holding devise.

Administrative Skills:
 Able to communicate effectively in writing and orally with peers, supervisors and customers as needed.
 Intermediate computer skills
 Possess comprehensive reading skills
 Develop and maintain work logs and tracking information.

Interpersonal Skills:
 Ability to build and maintain positive rapport with other Altek employees, customers and suppliers. 
 Exhibit positive communication and behavior skills. 
 Ability to adapt and modify as situations change.
 Ability to manage workload and changing priorities.
