General Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer designs, implements, and reviews processes and procedures for equipment in the manufacturing departments.  Duties include design, drafting, automation, and testing of manufacturing processes to increase production optimization. 

Essential Functions:
1. Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements in quality control.
2. Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
3. Ensure that the company’s manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
4. Review and calculate labor, material and other production costs along with reviewing schedules and future production requirements to assist management in decision making.
5. Analyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency.
6. Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services and make sure that manufacturer’s procedures and instructions are followed in order to keep production equipment operational.
7. Coordinates with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
8. Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
9. Determine root causes of failures or recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods, using statistical procedures.
10. Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness. 
11. Performs other duties as required

Specific Job Skills:
1. Performs duties with little direction given, operating from established directions and instructions. Decisions are made within general company policy constrains, but occasionally require independent decision making.
2. Ability to work with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
3. Understanding of ISO9001 and AS9100 International Standards.
4. CMM and other quality inspection experience preferred.
5. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and working understanding of ERP systems.  
6. Understanding of engineering concepts in process improvements and design. 
7. Understanding of firearms and Sporting Goods is a plus.
8. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
9. Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Education and/or Experience:
1. Degree in Engineering or other like discipline and/or equivalent experience.  
2. Must be able to perform ROI analysis, develop and understand budgets.  
3. 10 plus years manufacturing management experience. 
4. 3 years’ experience and/or equivalent in flexible, visual and lean manufacturing techniques as well as CRP, MRP and JIT principles.  
5. 2 years’ experience supervising Engineering preferred. 
6. CAD/CAM or drafting experience preferred. 
7. Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement.
8. Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects.
