Title: Heat Treat Operator

Description Job Summary:

Heat Treat Operators operate and tend solution furnaces, water quench tanks and precipitation age ovens to heat treat aluminum alloy castings. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Load product into and unload product from ovens and furnaces;
• Monitor equipment to ensure that proper heat treat cycles and temperatures are maintained;
• Quenching product in water using mechanical equipment to achieve proper cooling parameters;
• Straighten product using hammers and jigging tools to ensure the product meets dimensional requirements;
• Perform Brinell hardness testing of product and test samples;
• Recording process information and test results into a computer system;
• Sandblast castings using a sandblast cabinet to meet product surface finish requirements;
• Adhere to Nadcap/AS9100/IATF 16949 compliant procedures and processes; 
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations;
• Maintain 5S housekeeping standards within Heat Treat area;
• Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions, by troubleshooting malfunctions and by calling for repairs, and
• Perform all other duties assigned by management.

Job Qualifications:

• Must exhibit understanding and commitment to US Castings’ Core Values;
• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• 5+ year’s heat treat experience preferred;
• Experience heat treating aluminum alloy castings to the requirements of AMS 2771, AMS 2750, BAC 5602, and BAC 5621 preferred;
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and mathematical skills;
• Self-starter with desire and willingness to institute change;
• Capable of overcoming obstacles and completing assignments promptly.
• Positive attitude, good judgment, and excellent time management skills.
• Strong aptitude for understanding and troubleshooting mechanical processes.
• PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite preferred.
• Ability to walk, stand for long periods, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle and feel objects, tools, or controls;
• Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
• Positive can-do attitude;
• Must be flexible and willing to adapt their schedule to meet business demands;
• Weekends and holidays may be necessary;
• Willingness to work in a foundry type environment;
• Constant walking, standing, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, stooping, and moving during working hours, and
• Required to pass a drug and hearing test to maintain a safe work environment.
