General Position Summary:
This role is responsible for compliance with our Quality Management System as well as developing, maintaining and managing processes to ensure all employees are producing and fabricating products within company and customer’s standards of quality. Candidate will implement quality control standards, processes, and controls. Develop methods for inspection and training. Assist during the quality standards audits, customer audits and conduct internal audits. Evaluates production capabilities and recommends improvements. Assist in developing quality control policies and procedures. Ensures the quality control system meets customer and company requirements.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities Are But Not Limited To:
1. Contributes to plant operational excellence by inspecting and verifying quality of all raw materials, product in production and packaging of finished product. Rejects substandard items. Works from blueprints, diagrams and customer specifications using a variety of measuring equipment, such as fixed limit gauges, micrometers, calipers, and/or CMM in the verification process.
2. This is a hands-on position, overseeing processes on the floor daily and working with employees to resolve quality issues.
3. Assist production supervisors and lead personnel in training of proper production methods to assure quality of product. Trains warehouse personnel regarding quality specifications, requirements and procedures for incoming materials.
4. ISO/AS – Assists in maintaining all ISO/AS registration compliance documentation.
5. Documents detection of quality errors to include identification of initial problem, a solution, and required follow-up. Tracks reject rates and customer returns. Assists Engineering and Production in writing specification sheets for all finished products. Performs stress analysis testing on products and documents results.
6. Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) meetings and determine the final disposition of articles failing to meet the incoming inspection review.
7. Evaluate candidates for QA/QC positions when opening occur.
8. Works with Engineering and Production to communicate quality standards and specifications on all new products, current product changes and OEM products.
9. Performs work in accordance with the ISO/AS quality standards for this position.
10. Understands company’s Operational Excellence directive and is responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope.
11. Responsible for the department’s personnel including employee evaluation, employee counseling and/or discipline, approving any absences or overtime and making any recommendations for hiring, termination, pay changes, job changes and training.
12. Performs other duties as required.
Specific Job Skills:
1. Experience in a Lean Manufacturing Environment with exposure to ISO/AS practices highly desired.
2. Proficient in the use of measuring devices such as comparators, ring, plug, height, and thread gauges, calipers and micrometers.
3. Demonstrated technical writing skills to include experience writing work instructions for ISO compliance.
4. Ability to comprehend and interpret statistical data.
5. Positive interpersonal skills to train a diverse variety of individuals.
6. Must be detail oriented and have good time management skills.
7. Eye for detail with a methodical approach to problem solving.
8. Ability to work as part of a team.
Education and/or Experience:
1. High school diploma and Quality Assurance courses or equivalent required.
2. College degree preferred.
3. 3 to 5 years of experience in the machining/manufacturing industry with progressive experience in Quality Systems required.
4. 2+ years’ experience leading, guiding and mentoring a small team of quality professionals.
5. Experience with lean manufacturing, ISO9001 and AS9100D requirements/methodologies.
6. Excellent analytical, prioritization, delegation, and multitasking skills.
7. Excellent presentation, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
8. Strong technical background, design to quality (product and process) experience.
9. Experience in reducing scrap rates, correlating/translating product/process/quality plans into financial objectives is a plus.
10. Experience with application of quality system tools.
11. Project management expertise; strong implementation capability.
12. Experience in upholding successful relationships with both suppliers and customers
13. Solid computer skills and Proficient with Microsoft Office, including: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
14. Ability to work overtime including weekends when needed; Punctual and reliable
