Title: CNC PROGRAMMER/MACHINING SPECIALIST

Description: PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for programming machined parts to customer specifications and troubleshooting machining issues with machinist; maintaining quality and safety standards in a Continuous Improvement Lean Environment. Generates cost estimates and quotes for prospective and existing customers.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Output: Quality CNC Programs
Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to quality standards.
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Output: Accurate job estimates
Review engineered drawings for manufacturability.
Plans and sequences machine process flow of jobs.
Works with purchasing for costing of all materials and subcontracting.
Performs work center time studies for accuracy estimates.
Works with customers and sales to clarify product requirements.
Provide sales with formal confirming quotes.

Other activities:
Work cooperatively with Planning department to identify and resolve scheduling issues. Output: resolved scheduling issues.
Work cooperatively with Customer Service and Engineering to resolve problems with customer products and/or orders. Output: resolved product and order problems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of five (5) years experience in machining.
Previous experience with 3 and 4 axis milling machines and lathes with bar feed.
Haas machine experience preferred.
CAM Programming Experience – Gibbs Cam experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints and specifications.
Previous experience in machine time estimating.
Demonstrated knowledge of speeds and feeds, tool geometry, tool selection, and tooling materials.
Proficiently skilled in using computer tools.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop and lift.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 – $27.00 per hour
