Title: Maintenance Technician
Description Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining mechanical and electrical production and production support equipment and must possess a thorough knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, per diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments such as motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
• Install, program, troubleshoot, and maintain control panels, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motors, motor controllers, transformers, wiring, switches, alarm systems, and other equipment.
• Maintain, install, repair, and adjust electrical systems and equipment that provide power to production equipment and facilities.
• Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment.
• Connects power supply wires to machines and building equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels/circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
• Must be able to install and repair electrical apparatus & wiring circuits which consist of three-phase 240V & 460V.
• Responsible for all 3 phase 480/277 VAC, 3 Phase 120/208 VAC, and 120/240 VAC equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining all electrical distribution systems within the buildings;
• Replaces faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices; Replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
• Will be responsible for maintaining building lighting, emergency lights/exit lights, 120-volt outlets. Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings; Performs preventative maintenance tasking on all electrical utilities and equipment.
• Maintain facilities to include the repair of windows, roof, floors, and stairways; construct shop partitions, bins, racks, etc.
• Plan and design instrumentation/electrical projects and assist with technical issues.
• Provide technical assistance on the selection of new equipment.
• Strictly adhere to all environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) standards as defined by the company and local, state, and federal regulators.
• Executes all work safely and professionally by completing all work accurately and on time.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery & equipment.
• Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and organized shop area.
• Maintain, organize, control, inventory supplies, spare parts, tools, and equipment.
• Conducts Preventative Maintenance schedules;
• Requisitions new/replacement parts and equipment promptly.
• Cleans and lubricates parts. Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts. Inspects completed repairs.
• Regularly adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
• May be required to handle hazardous waste.
• Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications:
The right candidate:
• Must exhibit understanding and commitment to US Castings’ Core Values;
• 3+ years of experience performing maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred;
• Be skilled in electrical as well as mechanical maintenance with strong troubleshooting abilities;
• Have mechanical and electrical knowledge to complete machinery and equipment repairs;
• Be able to read complicated drawings and simple sketches;
• Must have and to maintain the ability to be on call 24 hrs. for emergency repairs;
• A familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems and techniques is preferred;
• Be flexible in working hours, with the ability and willingness to work weekends or holidays if necessary;
• Possess the ability to work under minimal supervision;
• Be knowledgeable on a wide range of skilled trades to perform maintenance and repair on facilities, machines, and equipment;
• Must be physically able to move, push, pull and lift at least 50 pounds;
• Basic computer literacy skills required for timekeeping entry and process control data entry;
• Must be flexible and willing to adapt their schedule to meet business demands;
• Weekends and holidays may be necessary;
• Willingness to work in a foundry type environment;
• Constant walking, standing, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, stooping, and moving during working hours;
• The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug and hearing test to maintain a safe work environment, and
• Random drug testing is also in effect.
