Job Summary:
The Supervisor, Test Engineering is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work of the Test Engineering Technicians.
Essential Functions:
Provide leadership and technical assistance to assigned staff and manage multiple projects to completion in a fast paced product development environment (Supervision of Test Technicians and Assemblers)
Provide written and verbal instruction to Technicians and Assemblers such that they effectively use their time and projects are maintained; Ensure training for all subordinates is identified and provided such that their capabilities are expanded
Provide technical interface with suppliers – assist in the interpretation of drawings, definition of requirements, and the application of new technologies into company products
Create and execute data driven action plans to improve standard work and performance
Plan, organize and lead multiple projects including scheduling preparation and reporting
Ensure standardization of products and processes and ensure that documentation is current and changes are made in accordance to company and customer requirements
Analyze test equipment and manpower requirements for development, performance and qualification testing
Supervise Engineers and Technicians in building test set-ups, test stands, etc. making sure that such test equipment is properly instrumented to obtain accurate readings
Assist in the preparation and implementation of Capital Expense Requests
Coordinate test programs, and analyze and select test equipment, instrumentation and provided manpower to adequately fulfill development and qualification test requirements on schedule
Coordinate with Engineers to evaluate test objectives and determine what tests (or portion of tests) must be conducted outside the facility; Makes necessary arrangements for same as well as proper surveillance at the outside test facility
Sustain a safe workplace through the establishment and support of Company policy
Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of the Crane Business System
Communicate best practices within the Crane organization
Assist in achieving Strategic Plan objectives
Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience : 2-4 years of experience in Test Engineering or related field.
Knowledge : Knowledgeable of a wide variety of electrical components and materials and the Test Engineering process. Must have a thorough understanding of the key parameters and design tradeoffs for each type.
Skills/Abilities : Ability to provide leadership to assigned staff. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills. Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people at many different levels of the organization, as well as customers and suppliers. Personal computer proficiency and experience using computer database, technical publishing, and word processing software.
Education/Certification : AA Degree in Electronics or equivalent.
Eligibility Requirement : This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ( ITAR ).
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or a physical science
Working Conditions:
Standard office/lab environment
Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
Work environment includes both office and test labs
